About Us

WelcNew Boston Troop 123 in 1912ome to the New Boston Boy Scout Troop 123 website!

If you have visited the newly renovated New Boston Historical Society, you may have learned that in April 1911, Rev. Swanson chartered the very first Boy Scout unit in New Boston.  (Pictured to the left was taken in 1912). The New Boston Troop (123) went through its ups and downs since then and became dormant for about 25 years.   Over the last few years, New Boston has had a growing and vibrant Cub Scout program, but Scouts had to go to troops from other towns in order to continue the scouting career.

We are happy to announce that New Boston Boy Scout 123 has been re-established, chartered by the New Boston Community Church - the same church Swanson guided for many years. A Boy Scout troop is composed of boys in the 6th grade or above through the age of 18, and starts when Cub Scouts and/or Webelos cross over after 5th grade. Here is your opportunity to stay within your own community! All scouts are welcome - You do not need to be from New Boston to join our troop.

Restablished in August 2011, Troop 123 is off and running with a full agenda and regularly scheduled troop meetings. Some of the activities being planned are camping, learning new skills, seeking new outdoor adventures and working with the community with various service projects.

Some of the events we've done so far:

- Participate in the annual New Boston 4th of July Parade.

- Rainbarrel Fundraiser @ New Boston Farmer's Market.

- Camped overnight and hiked with New Boston Cub Scout Pack 123.

- Campout at the Portsmouth-Boston Airshow @ Pease International Tradeport.

- Joined other scouts for a week at Hidden Valley Summer Camp.

- Made pizza in our dutch ovens.

- Service hours at Hillsborough County Fair.

- Overnight camp at the New Hampshire Scout Jamboree @ Waterville Valley.

- Painted our newly donated Klondike Sled.

- Annual Scouting for Food event.

- First Annual Car Smashing Fundraiser @ the Hillsborough County Fair.

And we have so much more planned!  We meet every Wednesday from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the New Boston Community Church. Please stop in to see what we are all about!

In meantime, if you have any questions about joining our troop, please call our Scoutmaster, Tom Lazott at 603-487-3423 or email scoutmaster@newboston123.mytroop.us
